According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for fifty six dual-fuel LNG vessels have been placed in January and February.This change in demand has created quite a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled sales of its patented deepwell fuel pumps in 2021, and there are numerous indications that gross sales might enhance even further in 2022.
Svanehøj has simply secured an order for fuel pump techniques for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be constructed at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The whole of 30 deepwell gasoline pumps will be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is among Svanehøj’s largest regarding LNG gas to date. It is the second time inside the final 12 months that this customer has chosen Svanehøj as the provider of LNG gas pump methods. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a few years ago, using LNG as a marine fuel was limited to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we at the second are seeing a pointy increase in gasoline pump orders for deep sea vessels similar to container ships and automobile carriers. We had been chosen because the provider of gas pump methods for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. And we aim to increase our market share further within the coming years”, says Johnny Houmann, Chief Sales Officer, Svanehøj.
Large funding in lean manufacturing and new gear
To assist the green transition of the maritime business, Svanehøj is at present investing more than DKK 10 million in upgrading its production facilities in Denmark. A new manufacturing facility layout with manufacturing cells and robotics will support Svanehøj’s ambitious progress strategy and cut back lead times for all merchandise.
“We have made a strategic determination to implement lean manufacturing. By rethinking our processes, we count on to increase productivity and capacity by up to 50%,” says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Lean Specialist, Svanehøj.
Svanehøj has entered 2022 with a new strategy and a goal of doubling its turnover to DKK 1 billion ($152 million) by the tip of 2026. In addition to gas pumps for LNG, LPG, and carbon-neutral fuels, Svanehøj sees nice potential in growing pump options for the infrastructure to be built round Power-to-X and carbon seize and storage (CCS).
